Can this be done on a vinyl porch.
My porch post are covered in vinyl, And there is a further span between them,
Would I still be able to use this method of screening in my porch.
Thank you I just love the idea.

This looks fantastic. One question for you though – I’d like to do this on my front porch, but it doesn’t have a railing. That means we would be missing the middle and bottom strips of Velcro. What do you recommend? Should we install a wood strip along the bottom between the posts? Would that t be ok without the centre strip? Do you think it will be saggy? Our posts are about 8 feet apart so it’s a large area…
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I love this. I’m purchasing all of these items from amazon through you because you should get rewarded for your work. My question is, you leave a few inches opened at the bottom. I read it was to remove snow. What about summer time? How do I cover that space? Also, I need some ideas, because my porche doesn’t have a door. There is an open space with stairs to go down the driveway the size of 2 doors out together. How could I screen that in a way I can go in and out with no problem. Thanks for all your help!

Hi Trisha,
I plan to try your method when I re-screen my porch, but I am having difficulty figuring out what you did to attach the two screens that come together at the corner of your porch that is on the opposite side of the one you did your demo on. Sorry for the long sentence. Your reply is much appreciated.

Trisha,
Do you think that you could use clear vinyl sheet in place of the screen to seal out rain and snow in the winter?

Thanks for the great suggestion. Good way to enclose the deck. I’m planning to do a sliding cover for winter, to protect the house from cold wind.(any suggestion)
One question, how did you deal with the bottom of the frame?

By a sliding cover, do you mean a roll down vinyl? Please explain…
The bottom of the frame is ideally a small wooden cross piece that runs between your 4×4 posts. It is best if you can have a strip of velcro at the bottom, middle and top as well as the sides.

Hey what would you do if you have a door? How would you screen that in?

I have just purchased 3 cottages and my plan is to install a wooden screen door and simply use the screen concept for the remainder.
